He insured it for $3.5 billion dollars with the special provision for destruction due to acts of terrorism. On 9/11, 6 weeks later this came to fruition. He's claiming double the original amount because 2 buildings were destroyed or $7 billion on the original investment. Seems strange Silverstein would buy 2 white elephants, losing money and facinga forced asbestos abatement costing $1 billion.

After the demolition Silversten will collect aprox $7 billion with the option to rebuild. Bush and co got access to $9 trillion dollars of middle east oil. Only one building still stands from that time. Even the frontier, next to the stardust, is gone. Plenty of new construction was going on, too. Vegas is unreal.
