Don't forget he isnt looking at his hand so he wants no mistake the throttle is all the way back so he can engage the reverse thrust. When landing 600,000lbs of plane there's no prizes for being gentle. Get all that weight settled on the ground then get it slowed down

Jul 18, 2008 - Qantas' 'crash' was a runway overun at Bangkok in a 747-400 (Longreach) - this did serious damage to the engines, landing gear (ripped off) and frame. No casualties, minor injuries. The aircraft was out of service for some time, repaired and in service still.
