Oct 11, 2008 - The Girl at 7:42 would make a spectacular photo! She is just beautiful. By the way the oil crises in Nigeria is a very serious issue. We should get to the bottom of this immediately.

Oct 28, 2008 - Ayo How long has Nigeria been a independent state. Why don't you stop blaming the 'evil white men' and build up your own country instaed of stealing off your own people. It would be funny if it was not so sad.
305n711 Says:
Nov 2, 2008 - You are right. we can't blame the white man. My naija people need to stop all the greed and hate.

Nov 13, 2008 - Sad situations...the West needs Oil to function but at the same time profits go towards propping up dictators and creating anarchy in the Oil regions. Oil truly is a curse; the devils tears. As a Libertarian I find the political beliefs of both conservatives and liberals on the discussion laughable. There must be another way to extract resources for the good of all without having the rest of the world hate us.
viokand Says:
Nov 13, 2008 - reply to sshapewa Very good point, most southern Nigerians do not like to farm, farming is mostly done by northerners, I can't believe how intelligent you are.

takarada Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Poverty is largely cultural, if they had a western value system they could be wealthy even without oil, but without it even if the oil wealth was distributed fairly they would not be wealthy.
srbija12 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - no that is wrong, many countries that follow the western society are very poor
takarada Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Sure, I know most people don't get it. That is why people poured money in to Africa and are surprised that they didn't get wealthier.Or Africans are surprised that when the Europeans dumped their African colonies and went home that they got poorer when people stopped exploiting them. The wealth comes from the political/legal/social/business structures that were developed over the last two hundred years.
plapper1 Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - 1 word CORRUPTION!!!!!!!!! Nigeria is the best in the world at it! starts at the top all the way down to the boy on the steet, until you sort out that you have no future!
CrazyShakaZulu Says:
Nov 20, 2008 - some Nigerian cultures like the Igbo value the accumulation of wealth however, corruption, tribalism, religion and other factors weaken Nigeria
takarada Says:
Nov 20, 2008 - Thanks, that is what I am trying to say.Pity when they carved up the colonies they didn't give the Igbo their own country.
CrazyShakaZulu Says:
Nov 20, 2008 - I am an Igbo myself and I think it'd be just as corrupt as Nigeria. If Europeans just carved out an Igbo state, it'd be corrupt. If the Igbos created a state themselves, it'd be less corrupt but at least politically unified
takarada Says:
Nov 20, 2008 - wrt Igbo I was thinking more from the viewpoint of religion, rather than wealth.
CrazyShakaZulu Says:
Nov 20, 2008 - that's a fair point. Poor Nigeria. I wish all the peoples in that nation may find future success
starqz Says:
Nov 23, 2008 - I agree. NEVER believe anyone from that country who asks you to send them money there!I cannot advise that to people enough
lumpagogo Says:
Nov 30, 2008 - Crazy:Will Biafra rise again? Also, can you give us some inside information on the current problems in the Jos area, as well as an updateon the oil wars?
CrazyShakaZulu Says:
Nov 30, 2008 - Biafra will only rise again when the state of Nigeria has been stressed to the point where regional factions develop such as Yoruba, Northern Muslim and Christian Igbo. I belive in the Jos area, there's fighting amongst Muslims and Christians over the election of a Muslim candidate in a heavily Christian state. Muslims are viewed as settlers to the native Christian inhabitants. Finally, the oil wars will be a long-running insurgency for years to come
lumpagogo Says:
Nov 30, 2008 - Thanxx, Crazy.

unouluvme912 Says:
Oct 6, 2008 - The huge environmental destruction of the Nigerian land makes farming very difficult. There have been instances where oil wells exploded and literally RAINED crude oil all over farmlands. The air pollution (gas flaring, anyone?) means that the natural rain is very polluted and that makes it hard to grow and nurture food that can be safely eaten. It's not just the Nigerians not wanting to farm - it's them not being ABLE to farm.
