Sep 29, 2008 - What nothing bad to say dumb ass? I think you are the one who made yourself look stupid my friend and your ancient peterbuilt ain't shit why don't you upgrade to a rig that gives you better horsepower for the mpg
abuldabcha Says:
Sep 29, 2008 - R u retarded i never said it had anything to do with the gears those old cats get shitty mpg even if you have an 18 speed mine is a 13speed and i average 8.5 to 8.7 mpg a week while hauling between 30-40 thousand pound loads
TheDieselDr Says:
Sep 29, 2008 - Guess you don't know that Detroit "stole" the basic design of the 1693 Cat to build your precious 60 series Y do you think they sound exactly alike... their is a video of a 1693 Cat engine here on youtube go listen real close and you will hear they both sound like they are about to scatter and it don't matter 13,15 or 18 top gear is the same and with out a tall rearend gear UR not going into triple didgits
TheDieselDr Says:
Sep 29, 2008 - My Dodge 1 ton has 3.73 gears and it is up against the govenor at 107 MPH (3,200 RPM) if I had 3.55 gears it would do all 120 that is on the speedometer so yes the gears do matter and so does tire diameter .. who's retarded now--->YOU ARE THAT'S WHO!!!
abuldabcha Says:
Sep 30, 2008 - U are so fukin childish it amazes me! First of all, who gives a fuck about your piece of shit dodge and second of all no one gives 2 fucks about the gears you have in it! Just shut the fuck up because no one cares about what you have to say because you just go on and on about non-sense
TheDieselDr Says:
Sep 30, 2008 - at least I didn't compare a Freightliner to a Dodge...... non-sense huh?? I guess it didn't make any sense to you cause your a fucking idiot mother fucker... I was trying to explain to you that ugly ass sloped nose freightliner will never do 85 much less 120 so yea fuck you... Freightliners are ugly and don't ride smooth that's why I would never own one, the 359 & 379 Petes are Classic that Freightliner will never be >>>> MORON....FUCK OFF!!!!!

Oct 14, 2008 - Cud someone enlighten me on "Jake Brake" ? I know it's got something to do with the valves and rockers but thats about it. Cheers !
acidblister Says:
Oct 16, 2008 - Jacobs engine retarder.....hence 'jake' brake....it closes down the exhaust valves on a diesel engine, when not all the exhaust is permitted to evacuate it bogs the motor which slows the truck and in turn kills momentum and speed. Necessary in mountain country, annoying to listen to on flatlands. I love trucks but flatland jakers are bad for publicity. ;-)
britishleylandcrap Says:
Oct 17, 2008 - Thanks mate. It sounds like a more complicated version of an Exhaust Brake. Thanks again.
mcgilt Says:
Oct 26, 2008 - Im pretty sure it just turns youre engine into an air compressor. Doesnt it?

Nov 4, 2008 - TheDieselDr, Just to let you know arguing on the Internet is like being in the special Olympics. Even if you win your still a retard.
charlescortese Says:
Nov 6, 2008 - The "Jake Brake" is used to retard the engine. could be by the piston, hydrolic, or exhaust. The most common type, the one u see in video is by the piston, all it does it open the exhaust valve about 10degrees BTDP(before top dead center) a cunt hair to let out the compressed air. Therfore it Negates(removes) the power stroke of the piston. great truck! charles- Engine City tech Student

Nov 15, 2008 - I wanna hear that jake eat on a downgrade loaded
dnukem88 Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - yeah me too
badVWbug Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - Kills momentum and speed ALONG WITH THE ENGINE! Jake brake happy truckers (whether it be on flat land or down hill) have NO idea the damage they're doing. They're a useful tool, but require knowledge about how it affects the engine before they can be used correctly.

Nov 26, 2008 - Nice Truck >>->
LCSnigga Says:
Nov 30, 2008 - REVOLUTION PER MINUTE, yes it kills momentum its made for slowing down your engine to help you stop. all it does is work your engine moe than normal engines are made for that and it will wear it out quicker when over reved. what you need to do quicker is an overhead or valve adjustment more often
LCSnigga Says:
Nov 30, 2008 - damn i will stop arguing that makes sense, but im not a retard
Vista0009 Says:
Dec 1, 2008 - Whitch generation of the Big Cam is this.

TheDieselDr Says:
Sep 29, 2008 - The point of the tall gears is fuel economy doesn't mean you have to go that fast... My truck will do 70MPH in 7 direct I still have 3 more to go!!!! so in 8th over (18th) I'm doing 70MPH at about 1700RPM getting almost 8MPG vs your 5.5-6 MPH,, you like spending $1,400 to fill your truck up HUH????
