Jun 14, 2007 - Glad it helps. Making the video actually made me read the manual and use the buttonhole foot. It really helps to use the right foot. I'm sewing better for making these videos!

Aug 8, 2007 - Geez, that's so easy! I've been avoiding trying to make anything needing button holes. Now if I only knew how to thread my serger properly...
sewmarm Says:
Aug 8, 2007 - Ah, sorry, I still don't have a serger, can't help you there. But there are videos here on YouTube about sergers.

Aug 9, 2007 - Thank you, thank you, thank you! I have gone to great lengths to avoid buttonholes including camoflauging snaps with buttons just sewn on top. I can't believe how easy this seems, I can't wait to tryi it.
sewmarm Says:
Aug 10, 2007 - YW! I also avoided buttonholes for years, and got pretty good at the heavier snaps that you need a snap applier to put in (Oh, another video idea!). However, if you put this video together with my video on sewing the buttons themselves in with the machine, it slowly becomes just about as easy to do buttons as snaps.Keep practicing the buttonholes, as it really expands your sewing capabilities.

Aug 14, 2007 - What? cannot see the stitches being sewn. Very poor presentation. She did not even get the edge correct. The camera should have been placed better. No help at all.

Aug 15, 2007 - Double dare you to make a video doing the same tutorial better ;).
izzymotto Says:
Aug 19, 2007 - Does not change the fact that this video does not help, now does it?
sewmarm Says:
Aug 19, 2007 - Actually, it helps more than nothing. A video made is better than none. Constructive criticism is helpful, not just saying "no help at all". That's my point. Some people feel helped by my videos, so I keep making them. Someone once commented that a shot of the foot pedal was missing, and I added it. That was constructive criticism. Your criticism is no help at all ;).

Aug 19, 2007 - Hi sewmarm, good video. I think it is pretty simple to follow you and my only sewing experience is having watched my mom use her machine. Anyway, sewmarm I have a question if you don't mind. I have a nice suit jacket with non-functional sleeve buttons and I want some buttonholes sewn in. Do you think I should trust the alterations shop with this or would they screw it up? thanks :)
izzymotto Says:
Aug 19, 2007 - How about the phrase -camera should have been placed better - in the original comment. I did not mean to sound destructive. I apologize. But it is quite annoying when someone is trying to see exactly how it is done, and connot see the stitches being sewn. Thanks for your videos. You have a lot of appreciating viewers.
