Nov 17, 2006 - I thought america was big on freedom of the press, what gives?
0entropy Says:
Nov 17, 2006 - It's supposed to be... America is always touting about how it is. I think the problem is that too many of the people in the high-power, high-influence positions are just too corrupt and hypocritical. I think too many of them have agendas that are only concentrated on what is good for them personally rather than for the country and/or humanity. Like the saying goes: What does a person with power want? More power.

Nov 17, 2006 - Im watching al jazeera right now and it seems alright, its so refreshing to see a news network where people take time to talk to people and listen to responses - I am not seeing any rabid anti-americanism - The main difference is that it reports on a global level, I would even say that I think it is better than the bbc in terms of its diverse reporting
0entropy Says:
Nov 17, 2006 - I've only read one article from Al Jazeera, it was titled"Iraq rape soldier jailed for life". BBC has an article with the exact same title. Comparing the two, the AJ article seemed to give a much better perspective of the whole situation. I have noticed that a lot of the info left out by the BBC that was included by AJ was information that better illustrated the more gruesome aspects of the whole situation. The BBC version was like a watered down version compared to the AJ.

Nov 17, 2006 - The US army shelled an Al Jazeera TV crew in Baghdad in 2003--even though they had given their co-ordinates to the US army to avoid such a tragedy. Bush had to be talked out of bombing the Al Jazeera HQ in Doha by Blair. So an AJ-English TV is not exactly getting the red carpet treatment in US and UK. It is not available on UK's leading cable network NTL-Telwest. And you have to pay £12 a MONTH to watch the broadband clips on the web-site! Not many are going to do that. Hmmmm.

Nov 17, 2006 - I hate Rupert murdoch, he is an absolute jackass that sells propaganda in 40 different nations world wide.
DrMrEcho Says:
Nov 18, 2006 - "Rupert??!" WTF. You'll have a long time waiting for that monopoly loving hate monger and his ilk to truly respect a diversity of opinions. It's like Henry Ford said - any colour so long as it's black.
GreenGestalt Says:
Nov 18, 2006 - Thanks for giving Al-Jazeera a fair shake. Everybody should ask their cable providers to show it;-) We need the truth, to hear from the other perspectives, not just FAUX news and a media too spineless to stand up to them.
suhailshafi Says:
Dec 24, 2006 - Go Al Jazeera, go ! I support them 100 %
bgturk Says:

imodeboi Says:
Mar 13, 2007 - In Australia we don't get Al Jazeera English. Foxtel (our cable - owned by you know who) refuses to put it on. They tell us there is no more channel space. With over 950 free channel spots available on their network. Sure. But you can get it through real player for a small fee.
rome80222 Says:
Mar 20, 2007 - go and get it on internet, may be 10 $ a month

blaisejones Says:
Nov 15, 2006 - they're afraid of terrorist propaganda. Course they don't mind the propaganda spewing from Fox.
