Jan 20, 2008 - The book says that the rate could actually decrease to lower than 23% because of the economy boost. I love it. I mean if you think about it, how often do you purchase big ticket items? We'd be able to save way more than we do now. No forms to fill out, no stress around April 15th.

Jan 29, 2008 - What ever your opinions and economic cross-fi analysis, you all have an opportunity to experiment with something fundamental to your daily lives. If it fails, you can fall back on the old system. Take a chance, it could be the last one!
Roxas42 Says:
May 8, 2008 - But the Fair Tax replaces the entire US Tax Code, not just the Personal Income Tax. Then we can work on fighting spending and lower the rate. Comparing the Fair Tax to Ron Paul's plan is apples to oranges.
Roxas42 Says:
May 8, 2008 - Updated version in Fair Tax:The Truth- most probable scenario is that people's gross pay will be at least what it was before the implementation of the Fair Tax, while prices drop roughly 11%.
Roxas42 Says:
May 8, 2008 - The Fair Tax is absolutely constitutional. The criteria are: Indirect tax (any tax on purchases is indirect), uniform throughout the several states (check), and not imposed on exports (Fair Tax applies only to goods purchased in the US).

Jun 28, 2008 - "Real wages are 10.3%, 9.5%, and 9.2% higher in years 1, 10, and 25, respectively than would otherwise be the case. "-fairtaxorgAhhh, sounds great, doesn't it? But again, they are averaging all classes together -- let's look at the true picture:Real wages of those making $10k-$150K up roughly 0.3 - 3.7%, real wages of those making less than $10k up roughly 13%, while the real wages of those making more than $150K is up nearly 50% (BHI, Table 5)."Fair" Tax = FAIL.
Diskwin Says:
Jun 28, 2008 - According to the CBO, the current effective federal tax rate of the middle classes is roughly 8-18%, and the current effective rate of the top 20% of is 26%. The estimates by FT/NST supporters put the effective rate under the FT/NST at 19-21% across the board. Do the simple math to see who would be paying more under the FT/NST and who would be paying less.

Oct 15, 2008 - hes not runnign for public office, why should anyone care
erodriguez55913 Says:
Oct 15, 2008 - we should care, because he would be a hypocrite. If his daily talking points are to talk about guilt by association. well we should address his also since he keeps bringing it up everytime he has a chance. It is the " fair and balanced " thing to do.
thefreak985 Says:
Oct 15, 2008 - an idiot on a talk show, or a person who could lead our country? whats more important
surfsalem7 Says:
Oct 16, 2008 - it's so not the same thing when a sean has someone on his show that is a controversial figure because if you want to make that legit you would have to say that EVERYONE that has someone controversial on their show then they too are guilty by association.in other words, all the other journalist in the world that have bad ppl on their show are bad too... you probably wouldn't agree. so then it's not fair to single out sean.plus he's not running for president, obama is
erodriguez55913 Says:
Oct 19, 2008 - well its not fair that sean fingles out obama for merely serving in a board where even other conservatives were on. why doesn't sean ever mention that? yes i know sean is not running for president but he pretends that he has never had any associations with controversial people, he is still a public figure who is subject to questioning by his very own public. like it or not, Hal Turner is more tied to sean than you want to believe. Look it up for yourself
surfsalem7 Says:
Oct 20, 2008 - but sean is a journalist and a radio show host, he is bound to have someone controverial on his programs. that's the name of the game, every journalist interviews controverial ppl. does that make them guilty too? most ppl would say no.sean interviews them, he doesn't serve on a board along side them, he doesn't represent them in a legal case. so it is not the same thing when you try to say sean is guilty by association because he had someone like hal turner on his program

alettertocongress Says:
Jan 4, 2008 - they wave their hands around this point by theorizing that 22% of a product's cost, on average, already includes taxes through a trickle-down effect...so after you get rid of those taxes, a product that did cost $100 would go down to $78. then if you add the fairtax back in, the product is a little over $100.i like that it gets rid of the IRS and greatly reduces complexity in the tax code, but 23% is too high considering that the IRS only collects 75% of taxes as is.
