A westerner's view of China

Nov 20, 2008 - no one is stating that minorities should be given special treatment, only fairness and justice which ALL people in this world deserve. unfortunatly it seems that this world has completly emptied itself from brotherly compassion towards eachother.having lived in the west and being from a migrant family, i've seen how utterly insentive europe & the developed world really is. when a white rich european guy get hurt in some forign country they cry out when its the opposite no one cares.

Nov 20, 2008 - Yes I agree, there is a huge double standard favouring westerners and so many of them abuse it too - not all though. You can see it on their faces when in Hong Kong, the British walking around with a smug look on their face like they own the place - not like what really happened, the British stealing it in a bad drug deal.All I can say is that I'm not that type of westerner and I want westerners to be aware of their actions. Maybe I'm biased but I think Canadians make the best tourists.

Nov 21, 2008 - ouch, only slightly?Anyway, people will change with better access to information - I believe so anyway.There is a recently released report from the US government saying their influence will diminish over the next 15 years due to the rise of China, India, Brazil and other emerging markets. The States did a lot of good work but it's time for a change and other nations need to have more of a say.

Dec 4, 2008 - These foreign companies are the ones who are cutting corners (quality, IP). China is doing well now building their knowledge base and increasing industrial expertise. China has proven that they can copy and improve others products (DVD's for 1$ etc.) so they are increasing their industrial expertise and fine tuning their knowledge base. Just have a look at Shanghai infrastructure, space program, Olympics, China will be a leader in technology and innovation. That will make them a world leader.
