Sep 29, 2008 - In fact, that kidnapping and beheading was horrendous. They paraded her (wouldn't be any less horrible if she had been a man...)in front of cameras, made her beg for her life, and then murdered her anyway. Her headless body was found thrown in the street. Could have been a man or a woman. But again, CARE's people have even shed blood (more than just this one person) to help people, men and women. I am just glad we are not fighting, and seem to understand each other better...
mathewskarl Says:
Sep 29, 2008 - That really is terrible. As you say, regardless of sex - death is death, and to be tortured and humiliated in such a way is just dispicable. This kind of shi..stuff boils my blood :(
brianlynk1 Says:
Sep 29, 2008 - I know, men and women get beheaded...this is ONE of the countries CARE has tried to help. They had her (could have been a man) on the news for over a week-I can't recall her name right now(I hate myself for that!)but will find out and let you know.I think it was Margaret Hussein (she was married to an Iraqi man-she was British).Anyhow,I am just as angered when a man is murdered. CARE's people really work on the front lines.
brianlynk1 Says:
Sep 29, 2008 - Me too, me too...:-(
brianlynk1 Says:
Sep 29, 2008 - I wanted to fill you in on more details regarding Margaret. The terrorists who kidnapped her in broad daylight held her hostage, and demanded that the U.K. pull their troops out of Iraq for her release. She was on the national news many times, begging for her life-of course, the U.K. could not pull out because of that. It is a shame, because she(and many others, men included) have given their lives on behalf of CARE, to help others(men and women). They had to pull out of Iraq. Good night...
brianlynk1 Says:
Sep 29, 2008 - Sorry, I just looked her up--her name was Margaret Hassan. Google her name and you will find her (even under Hussein...). They have her photo, news footage, story, etc... It is a tragedy when people suffer--men and women. But I won't be able to sleep well tonight knowing just what a great organization CARE is, with such dedicated men and women working there (for low wages, I might add-it is a charity...), unless I proclaim one last time that they are good people, and don't leave anyone out.
brianlynk1 Says:
Sep 30, 2008 - Yeah, we covered this already below...no problem. Indeed, CARE was/has been there, on many occasions... Rwanda, Iraq, Somalia, etc...They are not feminists. This is just one particular platform/campaign of theirs. Picture it this way, just because someone wants to "save the whales," does not mean they don't want to save the polar bears, manatees, etc... You are a good person--there is no issue here anymore. I should have been more clear early on with my explanations... Have a great day.
brianlynk1 Says:
Sep 30, 2008 - CORRECTION:I apologize for mis-posting! After re-reading the old news stories, I found that Margaret was not murdered by beheading-she was shot in the head on camera, then mutilated. Her body was found thereafter. Whatever the case, murder is murder.Margarete's last platform/campaign had nothing to do with sexism. She was focused on a clinic that tended to children with spinal injuries and malformations.I hope at this point, that nobody would say CARE hates adults because of a childrens' clinic?
brianlynk1 Says:
Sep 30, 2008 - CARE also does work in Haiti, ElSalvador, you name it. If it is a "lesser developed country" (aka third world), CARE is (or has been) there, helping in any capacity possible. This is the first time they have ever had a platform focused on womens' rights. And they continue their other work as well. Again, they help men, women, and children. Having one platform/campaign does not mean they are sexist, racist, etc. What a slippery slope it would be to say different.
brianlynk1 Says:
Sep 30, 2008 - For instance, supporting children does not mean you hate adults. Supporting people in Africa does not mean you hate South Americans (CARE supports both, and more...). Supporting men does not mean you hate women. Supporting women does not mean you hate men. The list goes on, but I think I have made my point, and ask for your forgiveness for beating a dead-horse! :-) Thanks. There has been some great discussion here, and that is healthy. So let their be peace...

Oct 4, 2008 - Thats stupid, I can think of two theores for the stats. 1, the men lay back in a life of leisure while the woman do the work for scraps. 2, The men are dead. I hear today that half of zimbabwe is dependent on food aid. WHY, Theories people theories WHY. Is Africa immpovrished because of a seires of random events and catastrophes???... bullshit
CapnMak Says:
Oct 7, 2008 - Women should get in the kitchen, respect their master (husband) and take care of the house and kids. Sara Palin knows this, and that's why we need to elect John McCain. Women cause all of the problems in society, that's why they need men to show them the way.
fede18lp Says:
Oct 9, 2008 - i felt discriminated as man. to the creator of this feminist clip. woman need us same as we need them.please cut the discrimination. be happy and stop droping wood to the fire!!!i got to say it: THIS VIDEO IS FEMINIST!
brianlynk1 Says:
Oct 9, 2008 - It is not feminist...please read the other postings. Seriously, just because you have a specific campaign to deal with a particular issue, does NOT mean you are excluding others. CARE has been on the front lines, defending men, women and children, since WWII. Just because you join a group wanting to help save the whales or something, does not mean you are against saving the manatees, polar bears, etc... I know it might be a poor analogy, but you get the point. Care has other campaigns too...
Monjinou Says:
Oct 9, 2008 - This is a powerful video driving home the salient points of inequality on every level for women and children. How can we as a race of humans be all we can be when we are dragging women, children or men behind us in chains of inequality. What is keeping us from accomplishing this worthy goal? We certainly do not lack the resources, technology, manpower or the goodness to do so. Monjinou -The Naked Truth
fede18lp Says:
Oct 11, 2008 - sorry, but your analogy is wrong, you should know about joining a position you are indirectly against others.like magnetism, you join + you are against -it will be a virtude and wise if you join both, woman and man like the same. soo thats why i felt discriminated. and i am sure all the man who see this felt same.hope this feminist video get erase/deleted.
brianlynk1 Says:
Oct 12, 2008 - I am not sorry to tell you that I firmly believe that your reasoning is flawed. I respect your opinion; however, there is no way that any reasonable person is going to believe that by supporting one cause, means you are against all others. Of course, if we were talking about a war, and you took one side, then of course, you would be against the other. But this is simply and entirely different scenario. You CAN want to save the whales and manatees at the same time, period. I bid you peace.
emeraldsteve Says:
Oct 13, 2008 - If there's one thing I don't care about it's Careusa. I don't care about your arbitrary theories. It's all a pack of lies. Your full of shit.
fede18lp Says:
Oct 13, 2008 - 1:02 this said "MAN DON'T WORK"1:15 this said "MAN ARE STUPID CAN'T READ OR WRITE"1:30 "AT LEAST YOU THINK ON EQUAL BUT ...WHAT A HELL YOU ARE DOING ALL UNEQUAL!"the rest of the video it at least all right, but please cut the first part...is fully discriminative!
brianlynk1 Says:
Oct 14, 2008 - And you appear to be an intellectual and a poet... Why aren't you running for president?
oinkiaia Says:

mathewskarl Says:
Oct 19, 2008 - I'd be interested in seeing where they gathered their statistics from - the ones they cite in this video seem more like shock politics than reality.
atoxandz Says:
Oct 23, 2008 - please make sense of what you are saying. gender inequality is caused by people like you guys who say that careusa is rubbish. And all those who say it are obviously the men.

mathewskarl Says:
Sep 29, 2008 - Are you serious!?!? Beheaded? OMG!!!I was half way through writing another reply (to your latter comment) but this came through, so refreshed the content, and read this post (above).DAMN!I recall a soldier or two being beheaded, but I was not aware of CARE members (esp the top cheese) being slaughtered :(
