Aug 18, 2008 - all this talk about grabbing balls has me nervous. if I went to any academy and the first thing they tried to teach me was how to grab balls I would definitely leave and go back to training BJJ where I dont have to worry about ball grabbers.

Aug 20, 2008 - was this a GAY academy ????? hehe

Aug 22, 2008 - Brazilian Jiu jitsu Rules, all the other coutrys dont have this art... Brazil Rules...
streeteffective Says:
Aug 25, 2008 - Japanese JuJitsu is all about strength? The Japanese are just as small if not smaller than the Brazilians? Every move in Gracie's BJJ comes from Japenese Judo? Believe all the marketing you want. Just remember this is a country that also bought beenie babies, breakdancing and the pet rock.BJJ come to my school all the time. Some are good wrestlers and good guys. But sorry it's a sport. Just be happy you are one step above a Tuesday nite softball league.Buena Suerte Amigo.

Aug 25, 2008 - Most of you people are stupid as dirt. I respect every art there is something useful in every art. But I am willing to bet only a handful of you train in anything, the rest of you are on a computer talking shit about something you know nothing about.
wolfmoonwatcher Says:
Aug 26, 2008 - I wonder how the gracie family won all their challenge matches then...dumbass
MrJesus666 Says:
Aug 30, 2008 - ........... in a fight between a japanese jiu jitsu and bjj no one would know who would win unless they fought, and im guessing you dont know about the fight helio gracie(inventer of gracie jiu jitsu and bjj) and kato (japanese jiu jitsu) had.... kato won from my memory,\no martial art is better only better fighters dont say who would win in a fight no one would know unless they fought
MrJesus666 Says:
Aug 30, 2008 - when was it ignored? and you need to watch some royce gracie fights he fight people who can actualy fight and he beats them all just about so if it can beat a actual fighter it could beat a street fighter
gemsmider Says:
Aug 31, 2008 - Bjj is: - useless against 2 or more opponent- useless against weapon- useless in a crowded place- useless in a small space- useless without rules- it don't teach to strike, to hit- it don't teach stand up grappling- useless on a dangerous or real floor- let vital point without protection (see up when i say about rules)- Ordinary police and the most part of special corps ignore it
streeteffective Says:
Sep 1, 2008 - Gemsmider sounds like he actually not only has a brain... but has actually fought outside of a tournament! It's about time someone brought a little common sense back to this SPORT called BJJ. By the way; it's not jujitsu. Because by definition jujitsu has punches, kicks, multiple attacker and weapons defense. It's "sport ground judo" from Brazil. Period.
ajgunns Says:
Sep 1, 2008 - Tournament style Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is useless in most of the situations that you mentioned. I agree. However, most of the people who I train with have cross-trained in other martial arts. Believe me, we know. In what style do you train?
WhtMike2006 Says:
Sep 6, 2008 - No Martial Art can guarantee to protect you against ultiple attackers or weapons. If they say so, they're lying. Buy a firearm. BJJ does each stndup grappling. Most places mix in Judo and wrestling. Mine does. It's worked for me in a small bar. Strikes are covered depending on the school. Again mine does. Rear Naked Choke worked perfctly. And no the Army's H2H comatives program uses a lot (2/3rds) of BJJ tchniques. Have you trained before???
WhtMike2006 Says:
Sep 6, 2008 - I'm tALKING to gemsmider
xymaster19 Says:
Sep 23, 2008 - you show me a martial art that is good against 2 or more people...gracie jiu jitsu the self defence aspect shows u how to defend against weapons, is useful in a small place, u dont need to strike to be effective, and watch the first 4 ufcs...and ALL of the navy seals use gracie jiu jitsu..so get your facts straight and stop bashing BJJ,
quiksilver87 Says:
Sep 25, 2008 - lol you should always avoid fights against 2 or more people...there are only basic techniques you should employ if you HAVE to fight them...
FGOD03 Says:
Oct 5, 2008 - BJJ is very good defense technique. If you doubt, please fight against one JJ fighter.Say something is easy... real training and fight are 4 few people
SJ716 Says:
Oct 5, 2008 - I would agree it is limited agaisnt 2 attackers. But to say it's useless ? It did beat every fighter in the first UFC . All their kicks and punches did nothing . They were all submitted .
jzieziula Says:
Oct 6, 2008 - Second ufc also. Would of been the third one but Gracie got hurt and couldnt finish.
flxhrnndz1 Says:
Oct 13, 2008 - All martail arts are good, from Judo to Kempo to BBJ to Krav Maga, Aikido Ect. The thing is to have fun with ur sport. To learn and grow as a person. Trust me, any one of these will do fine In any situation if well applyed.
xymaster19 Says:
Oct 30, 2008 - BJJ is a martial art and combat sport..its definatly applicable in a real situation..explain to me why the navy seals HAVE to train in BJJ? Plain and simple its effective so i dont know why your bashing BJJ, maybe a BJJ guy beat the shit out of u? and BJJ stands for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu not sport ground judo..any white belt trained in BJJ would take you out in seconds.
dlkenny2008 Says:
Nov 3, 2008 - I totally disagree that BJJ is useless in a streetfight. I've had several instances where it worked beautifully. What most don't realize is being trained to groundfight makes you best qualified to keep the fight standing if that's what you choose. Combine BJJ with muay thai and you're the wrong person to mess with on the street.
acquiesce100 Says:
Nov 5, 2008 - Awesome Reply!!!!!!!!!!!
guitarplayershawn Says:
Nov 17, 2008 - yeah exactly... say ur alot smaller than a guy comin at u and he's easily big enough to tackle you, u can land in position with ur legs around his waist and work him from the bottom. cuz mostly all they're gonna kno is tackle n start swingin
taltos1336 Says:
Nov 21, 2008 - I half to say that BJJ helped me more as a bouncer than anything else I have trained. Because of the success I saw of others with BJJ I started training Gracie Jiu Jitsu 6 years ago. I absolutely love BJJ and if you believe that it is useless in a fight I would refer you to any practitioner that is at a reputable school. Gracies teach control and eliminating space in a fight. If you cannot reach my face you cannot scratch it. And we do train for people trying to eye gouge or hit below the belt.

covetedjew Says:
Aug 18, 2008 - ignored for a century? Bjj is a mainstream style, ask any mma fighter, not to mention i hasn't even beenaround for a century.
