Nov 12, 2008 - Geez-Loueez! So what if someone makes a slight mis-step when they're scaling the heights of Dvorak's masterpiece??!! Its more amazing that 100 musicians can play this beautiful piece almost effortlessly..., anyhows I prefer a live concert; sure it puts more pressure on the players..., they can't "digitally remaster" every mistake on the spot..., but with that pressure on can come a more inspired performance!(Have any of youse guys ever seen the Grateful Dead on a good night?)

Nov 16, 2008 - this is the reason why classical music is similar (or the first version) to heavy metal genre ;)

Nov 19, 2008 - I usually love what Karajan did, but I hate the way they play the final part of the movement :/

jesbu1 Says:
Nov 20, 2008 - It's pretty good, and there's a lot of tense and excitement, and it is obvious that classic is not like heavy rock. Only problem is that he repeats a lot, but still it adds to the flavor, so take back what I just said about the repeating part.

Nov 22, 2008 - I just watched the video of Karajan conducting Beethoven's 7th and he's a lot more expressive and the performance is just a lot more potent. Not sure if Karajan is just older in this film or if he just doesn't like the music. If he had any Nazi left in him during the filming of this he probably wasn't feelin' a symphony about America by a Bohemian composer. If you are American, a Dvorak fan, and want to weep for this piece, watch Abbado conduct it or the NY Phil in Pyong yang.
Vader218 Says:
Nov 24, 2008 - Too fast! Maybe that's just Karajan's conducting style?

Nov 27, 2008 - Thats really cool how the double basses hold their bows! I guess how would you play an instrument so big that you'd need a good grip, not like a violin or viola grip!
