Nov 12, 2008 - Well the Catholic church doesn't encourage ANYONE to worship ANY IDOLS. Let me set the facts straight CATHOLICS DO NOT WORSHIP MARY!! We also do not worship any saints either. But we do follow the ten commandments and one of the most important ones is to HONOR your father and mother and since Mary IS the MOTHER of Jesus we JUST HONOR her. That's a huge difference in worshiping her. We place ALL emphisis of our prayer on the Creator and Jeus Christ asking for our needs in HIS name only.
Believing1Thomas Says:
Nov 12, 2008 - Completly untrue. Catholics PRAY TO MARY.
BrotherOfTheSon Says:
Nov 12, 2008 - I used to be a Catholic. Of course we prayed to Mary. It is all about her in the Catholic church. Jesus is always a baby or dying forever on the cross, with Mary tending for him or near him. We had to ask her to placate the "angry" Jesus. No different from a lot of mother/child religions of ages past. I found it intersting that when Jesus disciples said your mother and your brothers is waiting outside to speak to you He replied that his followers are my mother and brothers and sisters.
Believing1Thomas Says:
Nov 12, 2008 - Awesome point, brother! One I sometimes forget. In truth, Jesus never (in his ministry) treated Mary with any more deference than any other woman.
AUDREYoftheISLEofELY Says:
Nov 12, 2008 - Well they MIGHT pray to her but as I said NONE of the Catholics that I KNOW worships her and those are two different things. If they do worship her then they are sinning indeed. All of our prayers must lead us to Jesus.
Believing1Thomas Says:
Nov 13, 2008 - I found prayers TO Mary on the web site you sent to me through my Inbox. If you don't know of any Catholics who pray to Mary, then you have a really limited circle of Catholic friends. At my work, a "christian" discussion group spent months discussing "Mariology" because of what I've described. No, worshipping and praying aren't 2 different things. They go together.
AUDREYoftheISLEofELY Says:
Nov 13, 2008 - Well you must be MISREADING what I've said. I said that I know that people might pray to Mary but I do not know anyone that worships her. Please REREAD the comment posted above you. People can pray to anyone that they want to but that doesn't mean that they are worshiping them.
Believing1Thomas Says:
Nov 13, 2008 - I haven't misread what you've said - you've just ignored what I've said. I've been telling you, praying and worshipping are effectively the same thing.

Nov 16, 2008 - "Self-help" was the "Original Sin" of Adam and Eve...
Tr1n1r3dman Says:
Nov 17, 2008 - You miss something very Key. If you ask Mary to pray for you, You assume she can hear every Catholic, meaning she is omni-present, meaning she has one of the qualities.. only God.. has.
Believing1Thomas Says:
Nov 20, 2008 - Awesome point, Tr1n1r3dman!The bottom line is, no matter how hard they try to spin it, catholics pray to Mary, ergo they worship her.

Nov 23, 2008 - most of these guys become pastors because it is a good way to make money by selling jesus is your savior, hjjajaja

Nov 23, 2008 - you can improve your life if you inherit your daddies mega church.
BrotherRickLive Says:
Nov 23, 2008 - What real Christian(s) would give themselves a moniker "White Horse Inn" which was a booze tavern where sipping saints sat around and got tipsy and theologized together? When I got saved Jesus delivered me from booze. If I go to a tavern, it's to preach against that hell produced swill on the sidewalk outside the hell hole.Get and preach the real gospel!Brother Rick of Campus Ministry Int'l
BrotherRickLive Says:
Nov 23, 2008 - Yea, and evangelicals venerate and re-preach the messages of cigar-sucking, over-eating, gout-legged, Charles Spurgeon.
glartmax Says:
Nov 24, 2008 - Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men.
Believing1Thomas Says:
Nov 24, 2008 - Well, I don't know anything about the "White Horse Inn" - I do know the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which is completely exclusive. Watering it down & washing it away as Joel Osteen has done is addressed in Galatians 1.
Believing1Thomas Says:
Nov 24, 2008 - I don't re-preach anyone's message - except that of Jesus Christ. Anyone else is just a man. However, I'd rather listend to Spurgeon, foibles and all, preach the gospel, than Osteen do his self-help, motivational BS.

Nov 25, 2008 - i feel that joel osteen has reached into my heart in ways other pastors could not and he dont judge those who think a little different, joel is bringing folks of young/old of many races to god,i feel that joel is a vessel to gods word in a new generation. Why
gary46237 Says:
Nov 25, 2008 - is it so hard to see a different way to preach and bring folks to gods word.if you listen the words joel speaks its all good and i feel god is smiling on his ministry.

Nov 29, 2008 - 2 Timothy 4:1 "I solemny charge you before God and the Messiah Yeshua(Jesus), who will judge the living and the dead when he appears and establishes his Kingdom: PROCLAIM THE WORD! Be on hand with it whether the time seems right or not. Convict, censure and exhort with unfailing patience and with teaching.
STONEWALLNOGOAL34 Says:
Nov 29, 2008 - For the time is coming when people will not have patience for SOUND TEACHING, but will cater to their passions and gather around themselves teachers to say whatever their ears itch to hear. Yes, they will stop listening to the truth, but will turn aside to follow myths. 2 Timothy 4:3-4

Nov 30, 2008 - This man is such a FRAUD!How much did the Illuminati pay you THIS YEAR, Joel?May God have mercy on your soul as you deceive the Saints as you are so DECEIVED!

Believing1Thomas Says:
Nov 11, 2008 - I'm not focusing on catholics, per se, but more on the church and the teachings of the church. The long litany of problems in the catholic church are symptomatic of the underlying disease, i.e. SIN. Sin is taught and encouraged, by calling people to worship idols and pray to persons other than God, by placing more emphasis on a mere human - Mary - than on the God of all creation.
