Aug 21, 2008 - Reality...AA191 took off on 32L, experienced a dramatic structural failure on takeoff (loss of engine #1 and pylon), which also took off part of the left wing, severing the hydraulic lines. As the plane climbed in a prescribed procedure the hydraulic fluid leaked out, causing the slats on that wing to retract and stall the left wing, unknown to the crew who had no idea of the extent of the damage to the aircraft. Blame the shortcut in maintainence...Tulsa in March 1979.
