Jun 11, 2007 - great video. i grew up in epa( in the vill) and am currently living in palo alto. there is definately a large misconception regarding the people who live there, due largely in part to the c.1992 60minute report on crime in epa. im glad to see people like yourselves provididng positive commentary on the subject.keep up the good work.

Jul 22, 2007 - EPA is positioned at a critical time in world events to show how a diverse community can respond to limited income, education and civic resources and still produce strong families and community businesses. Whatever else may be happening in other Urban Communities, EPA doesn't HAVE TO be REACTIVE. Violence is not our only option. The children of EPA have much to offer to the WORLD!
TexasMax Says:
Jul 22, 2007 - Adversity is just making EPA stronger, but it does a great disservice for some of the great young minds to hasten to be put in the ground. Young gentle souls of EPA - RISE UP! It's your time. Use platforms like this MYURBANREPORT video to speak of the GOOD THINGS that are happening in the communities of East Palo Alto!I hope to return soon, but if I never do, I will always speak of the GREAT THINGS that are happening off the 101 & University!

Aug 24, 2007 - EPA is interesting. It used to have a large population of African Americans, but as rents and home prices have spiked up they've declined from 50% to 20% and the Hispanic population has risen to 60%. To most whites (including my family) it's considered a ghetto and they'll shun it except when they want to go to IKEA. I don't think it's so bad. It's too expensive to buy there, but I would sooner rent in EPA than snooty Palo Alto with all the inane teenyboppers.

Nov 18, 2007 - I lived in East Palo Alto several times now. For several months here and there.

Dec 2, 2007 - For any positive change to happen in a particular locale, is the same formula needed as that which would bring successful change in any other location: it's changing the minds and hearts of the people from within. From within.
spacific81 Says:
Dec 2, 2007 - East Palo Alto youth are brought one of the biggest challenges of their lives, challenges which can literally steer an individual to a lifestyle that ultimately would minimize and humiliate their very future, both short and long term. The challenge is to be a bigger influence for positive in these youth's futures, more so than all the negatives.

Dec 13, 2007 - East Palo Alto has been my hometown for over twenty-five years. I left for a while to go to college in Davis, but I'm back. This video gives me confidence by demonstrating there are homies out there who respect this town and are using their intelligence & creativity to show it.

May 12, 2008 - Just fyi the Four Seasons doesn't build hotels, they manage them. Some investors built a hotel and pay the four seasons to run the hotel. So the four seasons didn't build their hotel there, someone else did.
