Nov 10, 2006 - wow, i just slam both upfaders up to level 10! and use the trim to get the eq matched to the master level. I'll try this.

syntse Says:

Jan 17, 2007 - Have I missed the lesson where you give information how to set all the volumes (slider, gain, master, amp). Or is it still coming?

ellaskins Says:

Jan 17, 2007 - There is a video on this , i think it's titled how to use the bass mid top, what are they for, or something like that!

monomerx001 Says:

Jan 23, 2007 - -Set gain (with upfaders up) to zero DB at the loudest passage of the song. Then adjust your amp's gain and you headphone gain.NOTHING should ever go into the red (+db) gains. Using the multimeter to set "master out" is also important.

Feb 25, 2007 - I think what your trying to say is keep your monitor and headphone levels as quiet as you can get away with. Doing this helps a lot :)

ellaskins Says:

Feb 26, 2007 - O yes!! at the end of the day , you don't need the sound blasting, if anything by having it too loud is not helping at all.

May 26, 2007 - As an audio engineer and sound system designer for some of the worlds top performers for the past 28 years, I believe I can give a qualified opinion on this tutorial. This guy is dead on. Truly excellent. Every DJ should subscribe. I know I will, because frankly it's refreshing to hear true knowledge. Thanks Gerard DoylePresident:Doyle Audio Engineering

Dec 27, 2007 - This works fine at home but how would I do it at a club? The venue I'm spinning at has two loud monitors facing down on the booth. Last time I blasted them and got overwhelmed. I had too cause the club's speaker where starting to be louder than the monitors.. help?

zeepster Says:

May 6, 2008 - Great videos mate. Been djing for years but i've learned some nice tricks thanks to you.

rpardz Says:

May 15, 2008 - Thanks for this Johnathan. I've been DJing for a while but I've always been interested in how different DJs setup their headphones etc.I have a question regarding split or blend. I tend to use split with my headphones if I'm spinning at home as I don't have monitor speakers, but when I'm out I find the single headphone/monitor the best setup. Would you agree with this as a good way to practise for live events (when not having monitor speakers available)? Many thanks

Jul 16, 2008 - I'm still having trouble monitoring. Maybe my ears just suck and need more training.

Oct 30, 2008 - Have you tried switching ears? Maybe your other ear is dominant.
