But I think it's a problem with all stand-up comedy that occasional material which is truly funny is padded out with ranting. Gervais is peculiarly susceptible to this, particularly in this segment. He's scheduled for a stand-up on HBO this weekend titled "Out of England," and from the TV spots he's already relapsing into the slurry rants. Will see, though.
