Oct 1, 2008 - Oh this film is so sad! I love it but I don't think it should be shown to children. I saw it when I was between 5 and 10 and it broke my heart lol. Even now I can't listen to this song without crying =(

Oct 19, 2008 - I understand why you think this film shouldn't be shown to children, but I disagree. I think children deserve to experience films with genuine emotional depth to them - otherwise I think you run the risk of only exposing them to bland, shallow entertainment that does not develop their emotional intelligence or their imagination. This is a film from my youth, and parts of it were shocking and saddening to me, but I was captivated all the same...and looking back, I feel it did me nothing but good.

Oct 19, 2008 - Question: Does anyone know if this particular version of Bright Eyes was ever made commercially available...and if so, can it still be found? I have a couple of versions of Bright Eyes, but this version is the one I've always searched for. The orchestral backing softens the song into a dew of gentle harmonic breaths, swaying, wandering, longing...it is so sweetly sorrowful, it breaks my heart even writing about it *:)*

Oct 21, 2008 - Yeh its composed and sung by Mike Batt and is available on itunes
garethac81 Says:
Oct 21, 2008 - I know Mike Batt wrote it, but it was originally performed by Art Garfunkel. Batt's own version is OK, but it is not as moving as Garfunkel's, nor is it the version used in the film (which is the version I so dearly want to find).

Oct 22, 2008 - I saw this film yesterday on film 4. Went to my friends house because I was feeling low and needed to get out of the house. When I got to my friends, he was watching this. I sat down, just as this scene came on. It hooked me straight away and it almost reduced me to tears infront of my friend. I was so embarrassed. :P

Oct 30, 2008 - I love this film, and love this clip. But I can never watch it without being reduced to tears. I'm not just talking eyes welling up either, I'm talking about full-blown 'your-mother-has-just-died' tears. I can't understand it! I can't even listen to the song (any version) without crying. It's so odd!
jsbach15 Says:
Nov 4, 2008 - This song always reminds me of my gorgeous "BUDDY;" a long haired all black German Shepherd who died 1 1/2 years ago. "How can a light that burns so bright, suddenly fade?" I miss you Bud, you were my best friend ever! This song is a tribute to those whose "bright light has faded." 10 + stars!
DreamingBookCastles Says:
Nov 6, 2008 - This song is so amazing and sad! When I was 12 I played this song to my friend, and she asked me why I listened to this stupid gay stuff..lol, lucky for me I'm not her friend anymore. It hurt me so much back then though. Did she have no feelings ;_;?
