Aug 21, 2008 - anyone knows what kind of pedal/effects use mark to get that steel/metal sound in his strings? i think is a multichorus pedalim right?

BassGSR Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - wow!

SaKuRaZeNzEn Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - i don't think he's using a pedal or any effect. That sound mainly comes from the type of bass (mainly the pickups) he's using and the amp and the settings on the amp. With my experience on bass, I've found that active pickups are better for that 'steely' sound, although I'm sure passive can work. I do all my fancy slapping with active pickups though. Even then, the type of amp and its settings really make a huge difference too.hope it helps.

Aug 21, 2008 - While the idea of a freaking MOTH playing a bass would astound me... well, Mothboy kinda sucks compared to King.

jospatulani Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - the bass is jawdroppingly excellent, and the whole piece itself is amazing. I hope theres a tab out there somewhere, cos this would be great to cover with a band.Jon

DeBretancourt Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - Mark uses very thin strings (30-90 / 35-95) which add to his sound. The main characteristic comes from the Status bass he is using. It's a Kingbass, but many other Status basses have a similar sound. I can get a similar sound from my 1984 Status Series II bass.
