Aug 29, 2008 - When and where did this race take place?

Steelghost1 Says:

Aug 29, 2008 - in the 80's and especially the 90s There was a racing series called Mickey Thompson Stadium truck racing. most of the races were held in stadiums with realy big jumps and a lot of action. It was televised regularlly and was pretty popular. the races were really action packed and super fun to watch. Nowdays people want to watch pretty boys driving around in circles so the Mickey Thompson series was ended in the mid 90s. Great video, please post more if you have them.

Aug 29, 2008 - anyone that likes this racing should check out the CORR series and the WSORR series. Off-road racing is alive and kicking.

yamahasrock Says:

Aug 29, 2008 - yeah we used to have a dirt track here in harmony, NJ. it closed down before i was born, though. it's all overgrown with weeds and stuff now. very very sad.

yamahasrock Says:

Aug 29, 2008 - trust me pal, if i had a video camera i'd tape every one of these things i went to.

Aug 29, 2008 - What VHS is this from? I remember seeing this as a little kid renting it from a video store and re-renting it lol.

Aug 29, 2008 - I remember watching the Mickey Thompson Stadium Series on ESPN and it was a shame that the series ended in the mid 90's. It had some great races and big names in off-road racing at the time. I wish CORR could put the pro-lites and the the buggies in the stadiums to recreate the old stadium series.

Aug 29, 2008 - I grew up in Off Road w/ Marquez Food Products Off Road Racing Team (Santa Paula, CA) who gave Glen Harris (who finished 2nd in this clip) his first rides in our Class 10 and Baja Bug Class racers. Owner Dave "El Flaco" Marquez introduced me to Ivan Steward, Walker Evans, Mike Patrick, Mickey Thompson, Sal Fish and Class 5 Champion Dick Lee and many many other racing graets etc;...those were great memories of Baja in the 1970's.

Aug 29, 2008 - driving blind and then jumping to 2nd place was bad ass

KingCrusher13 Says:

Aug 29, 2008 - Off Road Racing is definately on a comeback, there is no doubt about that. But nothing will ever compare to M/T's Stadium Off Road Racing like this. MTEG went backrupt around 1996. SFX/USHRA tried to pick up on its success with the US Off Road Championship but just couldn't match it.Just think, if CORR or WSORR would try, they could sell out stadiums like Soldier Field, Yankee Stadium, Raymond James Stadium and so many more.
