Sep 6, 2008 - That's why a script is written though. I feel as though everyone has cold feet about the director when it's the script that we should focus our attention towards.I'm relatively indifferent towards the remake. I'll go see it expecting nothing, but I may be pleasantly surprised in the end.

Sep 6, 2008 - WOW WOW WOW. If this is the guy slated to direct Akira...he has my full support.

Sep 6, 2008 - no hope too bad!!
kallisonn Says:
Sep 6, 2008 - This is really beautifully done. I could really picture this as being made into a full feature film someday. If this short film was done this well I can only imagine how much better it could be if it were extended. Then again I like the anonymity it leaves us with so I don't know...

Sep 6, 2008 - i don `t understand this film i have see this trailer 1 year ago

Sep 6, 2008 - lol wat?Sorry, that's all I can muster up. And this is coming from a HUGE fan of post-apocalyptic films/books. The actor with the most lines was TERRIBLE.
NoodleBrutals Says:
Sep 6, 2008 - seeing how it's going to be this director making the 2009 Akira it has EVERYTHING to do with it. and i think this short film is shit. it LOOKS cool but the camera movement is pretentious and not very well done. also the dialog is shit the surviving character's actor is terrible and the plot isn't that great. If he fucks up Akira i'll be terribly upset.
Caqui Says:
Sep 6, 2008 - No. Akira has nothing to do with this short. Can you explain to me how the characters relate to Akira, in any way? They don't. Hence the reason why I said, "This short has nothing to do with Akira". However, yes, they do share the same director. Hollywood doesn't care about what you think :)And boy will it suck, whether or not you nag or scream or protest. Unless, of course, you manage to conjure a large enough following to change something. I heard Otomo was overlooking th project; have hope!
NoodleBrutals Says:
Sep 6, 2008 - But in determining whether or not the 2009 Akira is going to be good or bad you have to look at all of the directors past works and see if he has the talent and skills to pull off what we all expect in a live action remake of the 1988 classic and the manga that was based off of. SO this movie has everything to do the Akira live action and with z28camaro79's judgement of the upcoming movie. You have to look at the bigger picture of things sometimes Caqui.
Caqui Says:
Sep 6, 2008 - I guess time will be the determinant for this one. Have you checked out 50% Grey, yet? Ruairi also directed that short back in 2001(which was actually Oscar-nominated). And we still don't know (for sure), that Ruairi will direct this. Hey, I'm hoping Hollywood won't screw this up either.
NoodleBrutals Says:
Sep 6, 2008 - All of his other works I feel are the same as this one, nothing special! all smack of him being straight out of film school with no fresh ideas of his own. All of the parts that you'd think are good about his works are all lifted from somewhere else. He has some technical skill but no talent. The only way I can see Akira being well done is if he surrounds himself with a brilliant cinematographer, costume designer, and of course Otomo.

Sep 6, 2008 - This is pretty sad...Damn shame about this akira movie too..Everyone be sure and download movies via torrent so we can put these fucks out of business..Help destroy Hollywood one torrent at a time!!
mistarcraw Says:
Sep 6, 2008 - wow, terrible. maybe i should start making movies
Zenzuke Says:
Sep 6, 2008 - Yeah, I think maybe you should try making a film that looks THIS GOOD with a shoestring budget and writing, directing and making the sfx yourself, too, like Ruairi did. It can't be that difficult, can't it?People seem to forget that this short was made with almost NO budget at all. Don't be expecting holliwood quality at 1/1000th the budget, it already comes almost too close and it's a testament to Ruairi's skill that it almost hurts it because people think it took a lot of money to make.
mistarcraw Says:
Sep 6, 2008 - well maybe some people don't understand film, but it's obvious there was no money here.anyway, if you dont have money, that doesn't mean a film needs to be bad. budget constraints is all part of the art. this guy sucks
Zenzuke Says:
Sep 6, 2008 - Just show me one film with less budget and better looks than this one, I dare you, i double dare you.I don't even know why I'm arguing anything in youtube comments, everybody knows it's the trolls headquarters.
calitrav Says:
Sep 6, 2008 - Ruiari got on with the talent agency CAA in part due to this short, and that led to the Akira job. Gary Whitta is scripting.I barely know Ruairi, but from what I do know, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if he improves upon the original Akira.
JerseyMcgee81 Says:
Sep 6, 2008 - i was worried for the akira Live film adaptation now after seeing this things are looking very optimistic hope everything goes through as planned and THIS guy actually makes it cuz hollywood loves to change directors an joel shumacher ends up directing OHHHH NO...
rye419 Says:
Sep 6, 2008 - Please don't fuck up akira, please PLEASE!!!
mysterymirror Says:
Sep 6, 2008 - id love to see this as a real 2 hr long movie. its good.
bleutuna Says:
Sep 6, 2008 - He may do a great job on Akira or not, but I can say that Warner is a company that doesn't really make good decisions. Look at their properties and what they've done with them. Only Batman has been handled correctly. This movie is flashy, but that's about it. He's a VSFX guy who doesn't understand acting, and that really worries me.
Facethunder Says:
Sep 6, 2008 - Slightly off-topic but if DiCaprio can render a "convincing" South African then he could be a good Japanese dude. I mean RDJ played a black dude in Tropic Thunder!
GustoKongBumaet Says:
Sep 6, 2008 - OMG they need to give better funding to Akira to make it totally badass. Alotta firstimers (scriptwriters, director etc) working on a BADASS FILM LIKE AKIRA!!! Please dont fuck it up....
olihaunt Says:
