Aug 29, 2008 - I think it is because they danced from the core of thier lower bodies. Not lifting up through thier chest ballet style.

Aug 29, 2008 - Isn't that because the origonal form of belly dancing only used the waist down and from there up was stationary? Then in later years as belly dancing spread the chest was used more?

Aug 29, 2008 - Yeah, that is true, the chest was shimmied, or used less often, if at all. But now it seems that most dancers use their butts, legs, and hips to make the movements, not so much as the core, lower abs, and actual muscles. Again I think the original form look better. With anything saidi beat, there I can appreciate more movements using other parts. Dont know just my opinion.
