Aug 29, 2008 - Holy crap! This is amazing. I didn't think there were North Americans who sounded like this. Amazing. I love it. Are they joking, or being serious? And they say Canada has one big homogeneous accent.

kabire123489 Says:

Aug 29, 2008 - no way. its only newfies that talk like that in canada. the rest of us sound completely different.

Ayhoe Says:

Aug 29, 2008 - We were joking, but there are without a doubt people who sound exactly like this.

SarahDe93 Says:

newfiegirl1984 Says:

Aug 29, 2008 - Nope, they're not from Port-de-Grave, we do NOT sound like that. :p They're from the west coast, driving around Corner Brook to be exact, down the hill from Grenfell. Went there my first year of MUN. lol. God love 'em.

InuyashaNewf Says:

Aug 29, 2008 - omg is this a fake accent it sounds so real corner brook mys home lol i luv newfies so much and there is nothing wrong with how they taly it is just a mixture of british scottish and irish all in one they talk normal they just have accents and a few words theat some ontario people thinks isent real but is. i will fight anyone who dears to insault newfoundland

tool235 Says:

Aug 29, 2008 - I find it hilarious how people think newfies have such strong accents. The east coast of the island(St. John's/Mount Pearl area) has about the same accent as you're average American/Canadian. The only difference is the words newfies use. However anywhere on the island other than the east have ridiculously strong irish accents.I still find the strong Ontario accent the funniest ;P

oilfield666 Says:

Aug 29, 2008 - newfies dont have a strong accent?!?? they got the shit end of the stick is all i can say

theeponym Says:

Aug 29, 2008 - You just have to look up the history of Newfoundland and the large amount of Irish settlers to understand.Newfoundland is the only place outside of Europe to have its own name in Gaelic: Talamh an Éisc

miwiken Says:

Aug 29, 2008 - Depending on where you go in Newfoundland the accent is very different. The accent in St. John's seems to be very strong influenced by Irish, whereas others places on the island sound different. There is no such thing as not having an accent no matter where you are from.

klewis26 Says:

Aug 29, 2008 - This is the most ignorant thing I have ever heard. Such an exaggeration of our accent. Way to play up to stereotypes.

FlightSimFanatic Says:

Aug 29, 2008 - Way to not have a sense humour.

SashaW1234 Says:

CanadiansPwns Says:

Aug 29, 2008 - dude, the east have the strongest accents, central have strong accents too, but I live in a former American Air Force base (Stephenville) and people here sound like typical Canadians, (due to their American heritage)

Appleye Says:
