Oct 8, 2008 - I think her version is overdone, and I agree about the way the song is supposed to sound. But I think she's sounds more bitter - like she's throwing it in her ex's face, than happy or chipper.

Oct 9, 2008 - that was amazing

Oct 10, 2008 - Its funny, I now get the songs meaning! This is really how it should be sung. She conveys the meaning so well in a bitter, angry tone. Barbra is amazing, I love her sarcastic expressions on her face.

Oct 10, 2008 - A real time square version! Love it.

Oct 11, 2008 - It's not overdone, "overdone" imples it was done badly. No one can say that
goober214 Says:
Oct 11, 2008 - No it doesn't. Overdone just means that it was done to excess. I think she overworked the song.

Oct 25, 2008 - purel: the song was written to sound slow and heartbroken she sounds happy and chipperNO NO NO - she is smiling sarcastically! She is cynical laughing at his saying he is crying over her.

Oct 27, 2008 - isn't her dripping sarcasm obvious? why do some people listen to music if they've got tin ears..
kalindoscopy Says:
Oct 27, 2008 - this is the best version of the song..the mannerisms and mood are down pat. sure, it's not some subtle interpretation.. but this is not a subtle song.
bundleHastings Says:
Oct 27, 2008 - I could watch it a million times and never, ever be bored. What a star!

Oct 27, 2008 - She was a bad shag, too.

Nov 3, 2008 - as good as she is/was, it took her until 1970 to get with the times. listen to this performance. what what she 23 years old? great. but so out of touch. it sounds like something jim bailey would wreck; and his fans would think it's art. barbra moved on. mr. bailey... not so much.
lesxanes Says:
Nov 6, 2008 - Sorry, I don't like this version at all.
miklbikl2 Says:
Nov 6, 2008 - Julie London did so much better. Sorry Barbra.

Nov 9, 2008 - Darling, you've had one too many, "Waiter, can you call a cab, please?"
abigguitar Says:
Nov 11, 2008 - While Barbra's stage mannerisms and charisma drastically improved over the 1963 Dinah Shore version of this tune (look it up on YouTube), this 1967 interpretation isn't nearly as solid as what she delivered just 4 years earlier. This version is rushed and much of it is spoken rather quickly than sung. The 1963 Dinah Shore version, overlooking her slightly awkward stage performance, is much more emotional and really showcases Barbra's vocal abilities. Amazing what 4 years will do.
abigguitar Says:
Nov 11, 2008 - Barbra was rather out of touch during most of her career (with the exception of Tell Him and a few others). She bucked the Rock and Roll trend and instead focused on older songstress tunes. Tunes that you would have heard from a songbird in front of a big band in the 40s. Barbra was born too late for this. She got in touch with the times more through her films than through her music.
