Nov 26, 2008 - I think(though my opinion ain't worth jackshit) that maybe it could be about an uncommitted father/mother leaving his/her family. And maybe everything but the first line is part of the letter. The first verse is to the son/daughter, second verse to the wife/husband.Or it could all be aimed at the son/daughter.And the chorus talks about the good things and bad things of a family.And the phrase I love you however,you hold me down could mean I care, but I just want to do better things with life.

The phrase 'You're the echoes of my everything' could mean that(if the song is aimed at the son/daughter)maybe the father/mother's other half died, and the son/daughter is all that's left of their love. And if the song was aimed at the son/daughter, than that would explain the people sitting under trees that looked like mothers and daughters....and the little kids throwing snow balls. Just a thought.

Nov 30, 2008 - i believe this song is all just the note a person is reading, and the note is just saying that i'm sorry but i'm leaving i love you but your holding me down and i can't stay with you because of it. i don't think the video has much to do with the song itself. but it's a great song. and music is about adaptation so that's my take on it.

Dec 1, 2008 - before i saw this vid, i thought i understood this song pretty well. i though it was just about someone who was in love but the other person held them down, so he had to break up with her but he didnt know how blah blah clear cut to me. but now idk, it seems like it could be about a plethera of things.
