Sep 14, 2008 - You're wrong, the replacement technique didn't stop Amaterasu, Itachi did it himself to avoid destroying Sasuke's body and his eyes with it. Check out Naruto manga 390, Zetsu observes that Itachi did it himself. As for Madara we don't know how he stopped Amaterasu because he fled in the dark where we couldn't see him. It could have been a direct counter like Itachi's or Sasuke's, a space-time jutsu or some other still unknown technique... I hope it will be explained in the future episodes.

Oct 12, 2008 - Yes but he contained the flames to study them.300 chapters later it is certainly not behond possibility that he can now do the same to the full technic.Anyway at least 2 ppl now have managed to evade Amaterasu: Killer Bee and Madara.Also the requirement that you have to keep visual contact with your target to guide the flames can be a big drawback to a technic that already uses an insane amount of chakra out of a low chakra ninja like Sasuke.
