Oct 7, 2008 - La mejor pieza clásica de todos los tiempos.

animeaff Says:

Oct 12, 2008 - 0:51 She drew so much power! Is that only possible on her Strad violin?

KettlePal Says:

Oct 15, 2008 - Words cannot describe how amazing this is! This has to be by far the best i have seen this piece played

surge2004 Says:

Oct 15, 2008 - No, it can be done on other violins as well. It depends more on the player than the violin itself.

Oct 21, 2008 - I love the 4 seasonsand the musics are very good

Nov 20, 2008 - LOOOOL! Look at old Karajan from 0:18 through 0:28, hahaha!

jestemjestes Says:

Nov 22, 2008 - Ah god, Mutter is terrible, she really snatches at this. There's no elegance when she first comes in, she just seems completely focused on generating power with speed, everything else is out the window. That's not even mentioning the glaring errors at 2:49 and 2:58.

jestemjestes Says:

Nov 22, 2008 - Yes, well said. Personally, I'd go further and suggest that the orchestra is more amzing than the soloist. Anything feels possible with Karajan at the helm. Just listen to the orchestra when they open up this movement and then again from 2:10 through 2:28. Whatever criticisms you can fairly level at Karajan, there's no denying that he was a fantastic conductor, I don't know of anyone who can match him.Have you heard the Europa Galante recordings of Four Seasons?

imsleepyanddead Says:

Nov 22, 2008 - who said this movement must have elegance? nigel kennedy sounds less "elegant", so i'd advise you not to see his videos. oh, and what exactly the glaring errors you're talking about? is it out of tune? cause if it is, then give her a break. no violinist was ever perfectly in tune, and that includes heifetz and hahn (who are my personal favorites)

jestemjestes Says:

Nov 23, 2008 - Hahaha, you're funny! Thanks for the warning, I won't be watching Nigel Kennedy.Pray tell: how can you ask, "Is it out of tune?" Do you temporarily become deaf when the video hits 2:58? Does the screeching from the Strad (yes, she made a Strad screech, a real achievement) at around the 2:48 mark also escape your attention? Methinks you're a young male rendered audibly impaired by the sight of a half-decent-looking soloist. Please also learn to use capital letters when starting sentences.

jestemjestes Says:

Nov 23, 2008 - "Give her a break?" She played a note out of tune when she was tracking down a string, you don't think that's astonishingly shite? It's just embarrassing. Is it too much to ask someone who plays a Strad to play a simple series of notes in tune? Jesus.

imsleepyanddead Says:

Nov 23, 2008 - So I assume that the entirety of her performance rests solely on that section. Well, first-off, everyone makes mistakes. That said, do not watch any heifetz, oistkrah, perlman, and stern, because they all played at least one note out of tune in concerts. Intonation is a problem that never goes away. Second, if I'm right, I'd play those notes at 2:48 sul pont, or, in english, near the bridge, for the sake of style. And lastly, a Strad is not an instrument that gives the player God's powers.

imsleepyanddead Says:

Nov 23, 2008 - And I doubt that she's a bad player if she could play with the berlin phil with karajan at her age back then. Now about Kennedy, the reason I wouldn't watch his videos is because he does indeed "scratch." But really, it's the atmosphere of the music that counts. It's hard to believe he sells his four seasons every 30 seconds around the globe. Now if you want to judge my credibility in music, we should discuss this elsewhere. For firsts, I am a college music student who knows more that you think

jestemjestes Says:

Nov 23, 2008 - Good! I am glad you speak in English without the use of gibberish technical terms, my respect for you is at maximum. That's the only nice thing you'll get out of me, it's petty disagreement all the way from here.Well, I hear what you're saying, so let's just agree to agree that I'm right about old Mutter. Thanks for your comments :D

jestemjestes Says:

Nov 23, 2008 - And how did you know I hate Heifetz? Terrible! I cannot find a single performance of his which I like, not a single one.Nathan Milstein is good, so is Sarah Chang. I guess they'd be my favourites. Vengerov is just a pretentious twit... Well, I could go on, there aren't many violinists I truly love. Oh, Glenn Gould is my favourite pianist.

jestemjestes Says:

Nov 23, 2008 - Q. "So I assume that the entirety of her performance rests solely on that section."A. Yes.

jestemjestes Says:

Nov 23, 2008 - Have a listen to this Heifetz effort at the prelude of Bach's Partita No.3: watch?v=tAVXJQDXItIExcruciating, especially if you've just watched Milstein playing it. And don't give me a lot of old twaddle about how it's an old recording etc. etc. etc. No excuses, it's just execrable
