It seems to me that Obama made a decision to take a stand against the kind of smear campaigns that were waged on him by the political machineries of the past, which he predicts John McCain and the Republicans will likely use. Oct 9, 2008 - I think the real reason Obama opted out of public financing was because after he promised to use it, he started getting lots of donations from supporters, and realized he'd be giving up that advantage. So though I agree it doesn't sit well that he made a promise and broke it, it does seem like it was the smart thing to do. It made it more likely he'll be able to bring meaningful change to this country.I really liked your vid though. Well reasoned, well spoken. Made me question myself.
