Maher Arar seems to be a decent man and if there was any evidence of any wrongdoing on his part he should have been tried within the framework of the law instead of being tortured in a manner that was totally outside the scope of the legal system.

Both countries are fragile democracies now.(the US can't say they didn't know- unless they are under 7 yrs old). We must do what we can to restore our countries from police-state status.
