Sep 3, 2008 - Well yes but when I first heard it, it was in Japanses and it is amazing Callas I know is amazing it's just she's not for me ...Yes puccini did write it and I have no clue why I said french when this obviously has spanish undertone... anyway thank you I understand that Callas is amazing and I respect that but I think this piece is better in Japanese. but that is my opinion.

Firstly, she's singing in Italian, not French; secondly, this opera is written *in* Italian *by* Italians (neither Puccini nor his librettist knew a twig of Japanese), so stfu.Madama Butterfly was the "gateway" opera for me, and it's this aria, with Un Bel Di, that made me truly understand Cio Cio San's character.
