Nov 24, 2008 - van Beethoven could still hear speech and music well in 1812. "Eroica" was written in the years 1803 and 1804.

Nov 24, 2008 - but he was very limited. Can you imagine writing music with half of your listening range, or more, gone? Impressive by my count.

Nov 24, 2008 - You truly are an idiot. We all know that music today isn't ever created without a story. But they all are so blunt. The way that Beethoven was able to create imagery with this music is with a perfection unknown to any modern pop musician. Even some of the most ignorant, music illiterate people I've ever met know that.

Nov 25, 2008 - Mozart never taught Beethoven, actually. It is assumed that the two met each other at one time, but Beethoven never studied with him. He did two years of study with Haydn, though.Q:Why couldn't Beethoven find his teacher?A:Because he was Haydn. :-D

Nov 27, 2008 - Its really not as impressive as its made out to be- Someone of beethovens genius and training would hear the music in his mind, then merely write the music down. conducting when your deaf is near impossible, but for any great composer to write without being able to hear, is very doable

Nov 27, 2008 - Wow I just recently began to listen to classical music. It is amazing everytime I hear it theres something I didn't catch the first, second or third. And the feelings I get are crazy, I get sad, happy then excited then terrified its amazing. I cried the first time I listened to moonlight sonata. Please keep posting stuff like this guys help me find more like this.

Nov 27, 2008 - With todays modernist music its damn near impossible to hear in your head what you're doing. back then there were rules, (which beethoven abruptly broke,) but rules of harmony that guided you.

Nov 28, 2008 - if you are just starting out, listen to the 9th symphony in its entirety. The third movement is breathtaking and the fourth is incomparable. It is still the most powerful piece of music ive ever heard. it is perfection
