All I can say is I once watched a programme on TV where SAS soldiers said they trained with AK's because that is the weapon they are most likely to pick up of the enemy and he said they spent a massive amount of time trying different weapon systems out. Whether that means they pick and choose or they have somebody analyzing the results and assigning for them who knows?
