Oct 7, 2008 - What's wrong with your D70s?
Tuxster424 Says:
Oct 7, 2008 - o there is nothing wrong with the D70s i love its just that i always want somthing better but i wont buy a new body for awhile maybe a D300
Lilkiwiguy87 Says:
Oct 7, 2008 - No one deserves to upgrade to a new body until their body breaks apart, stolen, or lost. I used my D70 for a VERY long time then finally it broke apart (LCD won't work and Nikon lets me exchange it with D80 because it was discontinued). So, I upgraded to D200 after the passing of D70. A better camera won't make you any better, I hope you know that. :)
Tuxster424 Says:
Oct 7, 2008 - I fully understand that a better camera doesn't make you better, i upgraded from a canon P&S because the LCD would flicker on and off and i was unable to take photos. I will happy be using the D70s till i out grow it and it is falling apart in my hands.

Oct 14, 2008 - hello joe, i have this lens and just bought a 70 - 300 VR aswell i notice the new lens preforms alot better at lower apeture, i was thinking of getting a 18 - 70 to replace the 18 - 135 mainly because of the plastic mount and sharpness tho i read some where that the 135 is sharper anyway??? is this true? wat are your thoughts
Lilkiwiguy87 Says:
Oct 14, 2008 - You need to do lens sharpness test, there is a video showing you how to check for the sharpness. You cannot make your decision the lens is sharper than another based on JPEG's.

Oct 15, 2008 - ok this is going to be hard when i dont have one to compare it with... i've changed my mind i'm going to keep the 135 and get a 10.5 thanks for your reply! :-D

Oct 31, 2008 - excellent guide! I'm looking forward to future videos and reviews. I was wondering if you would suggest this lens to an hobbyist photographer looking to upgrade from the 18-55mm Kit Lens but with no budget for the 18-200mm VR lens.Cheers!
Lilkiwiguy87 Says:
Oct 31, 2008 - Yes, I would recommend this lens over the 18-55mm (VR or non-VR) rather than 18-200mm because the sharpness isn't that great.

Nov 1, 2008 - Thanks for the prompt reply. I'm looking forward to my new lens.
Lilkiwiguy87 Says:
Nov 1, 2008 - No problem. :)Just remember this lens is excellent when shooting outdoors under the sunlight or overcast (clouds) and when used on a tripod because F/8 is the one and only aperture that will deliver sharp results (after proper post processing) and F/11 (and lower apertures) will deliver in soft images (lens diffraction occurs beyond F/8 on DX's, where it suffers too much sharpness - will result in fuzzy edges).Good luck.

Nov 15, 2008 - is there a Nikkor 18-135mm with VR.
Lilkiwiguy87 Says:
Nov 15, 2008 - No. Not all lenses require VR.
0magice Says:
Nov 17, 2008 - Thanks.I chose to get the 18-200mm with the nikon D90. I didn't read any good reviews for the 18-135mm.
Lilkiwiguy87 Says:
Nov 17, 2008 - Well, the 18-200mm performs much worse than 18-135mm because the VR engine pushes and stacks all the elements (when there are too much elements, it delivers poorer image quality). I suggest you test-drive it first before making your decision.
GoannaKing Says:
Dec 1, 2008 - What do you think, this lens versus the 18-105?
Lilkiwiguy87 Says:
Dec 1, 2008 - This lens is sharper because lacking VR engine and set of "stacked" elements (for the VR).
nismofanatical Says:
Dec 10, 2008 - Do the 18-200 and 18-55 have plastic mounts too?
Lilkiwiguy87 Says:
Dec 10, 2008 - 18-55mm (non-VR and VR versions), yes.18-200mm, yes, but worst built quality.
