Jun 4, 2007 - that is such a crap comment

ulyssesjj Says:

Jul 10, 2007 - To make any comment on sound quality on youtube is a little ridiculous, furthermore concerning his "babyfinger", try listening with your ears not your eyes...

plumtree101 Says:

Jul 26, 2007 - caniche666, what a wonderful comment. Make sure you share it with everyone you meet. Your parents should be proud of you.

Aug 10, 2007 - i couldnt disagree more how old are you?a quote from me "brahms wrote the best music ever written for violin, i cant think of anything in the entire violin repertoire id like to hear more than the violin concerto and sonata 1"

plumtree101 Says:

Aug 12, 2007 - Just to clarify, my comment regarding caniche666 or whatever was a sarcasm.

mikejones1770 Says:

Aug 18, 2007 - brahms needs no defenders..the consensus has put him among the gods of music..lmao brahms is usually immune to criticism..i used to try and defend mozart..it seems he gets dismissed alot by some ..but thenm i think to myself..mozart will be played 500 years from now..lmao no one will ever think of his critics..omg thats hilarious

nickthegreat998 Says:

Aug 26, 2007 - yah well, youre from belgium...so uhm, your comment is useless, worth nothing at all. Of moet ik zecccchen, waardeloos?

Alessandro1985 Says:

Aug 28, 2007 - So long as human beings have ears, minds and hearts - so long as they have souls! - then the music of Brahms shall live on! And if humans should ever lose their souls, then the Sonata No.1 G Major will be enjoyed by the gods alone.

caniche666 Says:

Aug 28, 2007 - I can't agree more that Mozart is outstanding. But the fact that Brahms is still seen, by some, as one of the greatest composers ever just proves that there are a lot of stupid people out there. Brahms is about nothing than fake emotions and manieristic, pathetic musical abuse. And I don't know what god has to do with this... Can't you make up your own mind? Do you really need a useless god to guide your opinion?

chocolatebobka Says:

Sep 10, 2007 - De gustibus and all that. As a long-term music lover, I do profoundly enjoy Brahms. Imaginatively inspired, melodic, technically near-perfect, autumnal music. Just right for the late 19th Century. I suppose one might muster some arguments against him, but they don't persuade me. You take the "gods" comment too literally. The gentleman was speaking in hyperbole, of course.

chocolatebobka Says:

Sep 10, 2007 - Well...quoting Tchaikowsky? Not that he was exactly "giftless," but his was certainly a gift that never matured. He's compositionally inferior to almost every other great 19th Century composer, despite his admitted talent for melody. Certainly no one doubts his inferiority to Brahms. And "bastard"? Well he was a defender of some of the worst abuses of Czarism. Today, he might be one of those closest homosexuals with right wing, homophobic politics.

suzettegm Says:

Sep 22, 2007 - @ Caniche. I love this sonata. I love Brahms. Thank you for reminding me I'm stupid. Now I understand why.

meggiblu Says:

Nov 4, 2007 - caniche666-From your comments about Brahams you likely compose superior work, perhaps you could share it with us? Keep in mind that music while in part is talent and technique there is also in music an aspect that reaches ones soul- perhaps you are not 'touched' by Brahms, not everyone is. So, why listen to him?

symfotroll Says:

Nov 8, 2007 - I understand what you're saying, a lot more people would agree with you, at least to some extent, then your opponents here can imagine. In most cases though it's not the composers but rather the performer's fault. Most of them suck. 11 years ago I was lucky to be in the orchestra when Lazar Berman was playing Brahms 2 piano concerto. It WAS something to die for, believe me.

symfotroll Says:

Nov 8, 2007 - Try listening to some Stern or Oistrakh playing Brahms also here on youtube. Somehow they sound very differently (better).

ulyssesjj Says:

Nov 9, 2007 - try going to a concert , anorak

symfotroll Says:

Nov 9, 2007 - try not to change the subject, kozel.

AlexanderCYM Says:

Nov 23, 2007 - Does it matter who is known as 'one of the greatest composers'? Nope. They are all, in their way, awesome. Now, let's enjoy the music! :)

AlexanderCYM Says:

Nov 23, 2007 - Here here ChocolateBobka!

TriangleConcerto Says:

Dec 14, 2007 - Indeed! Well said

arrhaug Says:

Feb 6, 2008 - I have departed from Brahms for shorter or longer periods, but I have allways returned, like to a life long friend. When I listen to this music I understand why. And over the years the friendship is growing deeper. He touches something deep in the soul like no one else. It is very strange.

MaryDillonGalbraith Says:

Mar 24, 2008 - Used to play this with a violinist friend. My violinist was good, I'm strictly second-rate. Nice to hear it done brilliantly.
