Oct 9, 2007 - Probably Ambilight will work best on white background, some colors might look a bit off. I would try with orange before painting the wall if that color suits your room's decor :).

Oct 18, 2007 - For roughly the same price as most other LCD televisions, it's the only one that offers any substantially different option(the ambilight). You can always turn it off if you decide you don't like it too. That's how I looked at it.

May 28, 2008 - I have been exploring the Phillips Ambilight site, just trying to see what it looked like. And I have sat through slow-loading poncy Flash videos, then just seemingly random flashing lights... and I just wanted to see what it actually did on a TV! So thank you J0nes1 and YouTube for just letting me see what I want! Ambilight in action without the marketing bull.
