Ashk-e-Zahra follows an initial work published in 2004 entitled, Ashk-e-Zaynab. The launch of Ashk-e-Zahra coensides with the Ayyam-e-Fatimiyyah, i.e. the days that are dedicated towards the remembrance and mourning of the tragedies that befell Sayyida Zahra [a]. This work contains famous Urdu recitations (Nawha / Marsia) with complete transliteration and translation. The intention of providing translations of commonly recited Nawha/Marsiya is to:➢ Encourage youth living in the West to understand what is being recited➢ Raise awareness about Ayyam-e-Fatimiyyah➢ Forster a greater understanding of the Urdu language among non-Urdu speaking youths➢ Attempt to transmit the themes of Azadari that are so powerfully captured by Urdu recitations➢ Encourage children in the community to take up public recitation of Nawhas/MarsiyasIn keeping the theme of Fatimiyyah, the first 5 recitations in this work are dedicated to Sayyida Zahra [a]. The remaining recitations cover various aspects of the Tragedy of Karbala, beginning with the departure from Medina, to the calamities faced in Karbala, Kufa, and Shaam.Ashk-e-Zahra has been compiled by a young team who seek nothing but the pleasure of Sayyida Zahra [a], as her pleasure is the pleasure of Allah [swt].
