This is trying to symbolize the tragicness of Simbas life. His lost faith in himself and his rightful life as the king of Priderock after losing his beloved father and teacher, and blaming himself. And about how Nala, Rafiki and Mufasa helped him refind it all. I know its not nearly the perfect song for that but I think its atmosphare way of singing about faith was fitting even if the songs faith is religious unlike the one Simbas was. Thats why its only supposed to symbolize. (Just so to possibly avoid other religiosu people coming scream at me.
