Anti-War protest at the UN, sept, 2007. Some of the police were trying to drag protest organizers out of the designated protest-zone so they could then arrest them for leaving the protest zone. This video captures a protest organizer (girl in orange) in the permitted protest zone struggling with a police officer who is trying to pull her out and arrest her. Her status as an organizer would have been obvious as she was wearing an orange suit (a reference to Guantanamo prisoners), and signing people onto a mailing list with a clipboard (which was knocked out of her hands in the struggle). The officer was unsuccessful, as the surrounding protesters would not let go of her. This created a type of tug-of war over the organizer. When the officer losses his grip, the group falls backward. They then move forward towards the barricade to confront the officer, who is then pushed back by the commanding officer (white uniform). The commanding officer then prepares to spray the organizer (girl in orange) and another protester with pepper spray. The two protesters run back into the crowd, which then begins to shun the police for their actions. No one at this moment was sprayed. Meanwhile, others in the video are being arrested outside of the barricade. I am unaware if they left the permitted protest-zone on their accord.
