Okay, the game probably needs to introduction, but if you're unfamiliar with the title you'll get a good idea of it since this video starts right off the start of the Demo. The game runs on 55-60FPS (60FPS is cap) on my hardware, half that during capture using Fraps 2.9.1. Highest settings, though I couldn't find any game-specific Anti-Aliasing, so I let it be for now. EAX is also active.Running with Windows XP Pro with SP2 - therefor I play using DX9 surfacing. But don't expect too much more out of DX10, since it won't be anything more than higher textures and potentially better performance until next year. Stranglehold, a huge clone of the great Max Payne game(s) launched in form of a demo this week showing off the games' abilities, or inabilities. It looks decent, we've all seen the Unreal engine in its glory and its aging, but still developers tend to use it to ease the expenses of building a engine from scratch. The problem with the game isn't neither its lack of innovation nor its graphics, but the whole plot of having atleast ten enemies on screen randomly regenerating in a huge flow of badguys feels very old by now and I hoped it died out with Call of Duty 2, but it didn't.Unreal is a decently good looking engine with excellent performance. The demo was limited to default settings, no xAA and bad AF support, if at all, but the game looked good enough and played off with such good performance it didn't really matter. About time I got this game for the PC. I wasn't at all impressed on the Xbox360 version as for the performance dropping quite significantly at times and controls didn't really cut it. But that's not the case for this PC Port. Having the Gears of War for the PC truly shows how Unreal 3 is the best engine out there for most visual environments. It runs kickass on basicly every platform and looks from good to fantastic. A more work into the facial animation is all I would ask for, but it's still great stuff. As for the performance itself, running on the latest 8.3 driver I've been able to recieve a stabile 45-60FPS Solid while not recording. Doesn't sound so impressive, but it is extremely fluid. While recording: 22FPS (lowest noticed, during cutscene) up to 40FPS (pre-set cap). While not recording:45-60FPS.Highest in-game settings (no Vsync) at 1680x1050 resolution. This is the latest installment in the series of the always as mediocre shooter known as Medal of Honor, which does nothing at all to the super-old genre. This game combines the old Medal of Honor with Call of Duty and Brothers in Arms. But what's new with this game apart from the rest of the WW2 shooters?... Well... Nothing. You've seen it all before and you'll be happy it's just a demo on the screen and not the retail product since this is as ever a wasted production from EA. But for the performance it runs good, looks decent, basic Unreal-engine seen in basicly all WW2-shooters today (as it feels) and isn't looking that fantastic. I didn't find any title-specific Anti-Aliasing which is bad, I didn't take my time adding xAA support in ATiTools since the game isn't enough a deal to spend 4MB of extra physical memory on. The AI is so stupid you can tell they're pure EA. Only minutes after the Demo was launched they also launched a AI mod that *might* (I don't know yet) make the enemy anything but static Italian statues with German weapons. When not recording I hit a 50-90FPS. Never below 45FPS whatever happend. When I recorded using Fraps 2.9.1 the frame-rate obviously dropped, back to 30-50FPS (50FPS was set as cap). Just a few clips playing Call of Duty 4. As I've already done a demo analazis of the performance I'll only go over the basics:Records at 35-40FPS, with some noticeable sit-backs at times, under highest settings and 16xAF, 1680x1050 resolution, but No AntiAliasing. Bringing the xAA active during these other settings would bring back performance by 35-40%, I just thought it wasn't worth the trouble. Finally, the latest Catalyst Drivers did alot of improvements in the performance of this particilar title; Lost Planet (the demo that is) which has from the start favorited Nvidia by far due to the fact it has been designed to run better on referenced G80 chipset standards. Especially in AA since the game didn't take notice of the shader-based Anti-Aliasing found on the R600 2900XT. In this video I wasn't able to kick up Anti-Aliasing at all since the game wouldn't let me - I've been able to do that before now, but something is just funny with CapCom... they've been around for too long to do anything good. I'm running on highest settings with exception for Anti-Alising which is completely off - but I do have 16xAF active. But the AA isn't important in this game, atleast not as important as many other games, since this game has good looking Blur effects which just makes the surrounding blurred when doing fast movements anyways, so that won't be a problem.To notice is: Framerate is dropped when recording (doing this with Fraps 2.9.1 Retail) recording FPS: 20-25FPS average - Non-Recording FPS: 30-50FPS.This game is designed to run better on Nvidia boards, therefor it is obvious the 8-series most often will perform better in this DEMO. So we can't compete undependent DEMOS from one manufactor to another. So, the Demo just launched the other day and it's a pretty cool deal. Not that much of a huge improvement over the last months BETA but it's alright since the full product ain't launched yet. With my rig I'm getting a FPS around 32-60FPS depending on the scene, very playable even if the game isn't fully optimized for the R600 just yet. Actually it's an Asus EAH2900XT and his twin brother in Crossfire configuration and I'm playing with fan control via ATiTool. Normally the fan works at 31% in 2D and 38% in 3D and is barely hearable, but the 100% setting shows how capable the cooler is in getting rid af heat and making a hell of a noise....This clip is my video-editing debute so tell me what you think...
